Paperless Boarding Passes are Coming
Event planners and event attendees rejoice! Paperless Boarding Passes are making their way to an airport near you and Continental will be the first to have them.
Rather than printing out the familiar bar-coded pass before heading to the airport, passengers can now receive a text message to their cell phone or PDA that will contain a “2-D” code that can be scanned by a special reader.
A welcome relief for many frequent travelers, we can now head right to the airport and by-pass the printer in the business center or hotel lobby.
Very cool stuff, but not actually new technology. They are already using this system in Europe, Canada and the Japanese have been doing it for three years.
I love the idea because it makes life a little easier, but it can't speed up that guy at the front of the security line who has 4 lbs of change in his pocket, a pocket knife in his jacket and chainsaw in his carry-on........oh well.
Just a thought……
