Get with the Program

You Love Microsoft or You Hate Microsoft, either way it does not really matter. Me, I happen to love to folks from Redmond, if it were not for Microsoft and Windows, we would not have a computer in every office.

Now….before all of you tech junkies jump my back, I love Macs too. In fact, a world with only Microsoft would be pretty boring, kinda like the old days when everyone wore the standard IBM blue suit, white shirt and black tie to the office every day. No wonder they had all of those 3 Martini lunches. It added excitement to the day.

Macs make the world pretty, vibrant and well………special. Full of color, birds singing and bears dancing.

The one thing that PCs and Macs have in common;  the one middle ground; is Microsoft Office. In fact, most people don’t realize that Mac users get the newest edition of Office long before us PC junkies. Even Microsoft runs better on a Mac, go figure.

This brings me to my point. The newest edition of Microsoft Office. We have it; our clients have it…..why don’t you. The time is now to run out and get the newest edition of the World’s number one office productivity product. It has a lot going for it and is truly better than Office 2003 (if you still have Office 97, more power to ya…..). This is not a review, if it were, I would bore you with all of the details, but it is not a review, it is a plea.

Go switch. If you can’t switch, go to Microsoft’s website and get the compatibility download so that Office 2003 and 2007 can work together in peace, love and campfire Kumbaya . Basically, let my word documents and your word documents play nicely together. They should be friends. If you use Open Office, there is an OpenXML translator that will do the same thing (I like Open Office too, but that is for another story and another day).

I am actually in the middle of trying to get a rooming list to one of the largest hotel chains on the planet and they are acting like the document I am trying to send them is a stealth bomber loaded with viruses and malware.  Their firewall rejects it because the new office file extensions are (.docx and .xlsx).

Ugg.

Everyone made the switch from leaded to unleaded and from aspirin to Tylenol. Time to make the switch.

Just  a thought,

Keith
